There are something that we better to do and we better not do. When we want to express this idea, we can use the sentence pattern 不要……， 要…… in Chinese. It is the same as the meaning of “not to do something and have to do something” in English.

For example: 我們不要在港鐵站集合，要在酒店門口集合。

                       wǒ men bù yɑ̀o zɑ̀i gɑ̌ng tiě zhɑ̀n jí hé，yɑ̀o zɑ̀i jiǔ diɑ̀n mén kǒu jí hé.

           Don’t meet at the MTR station. We have to meet at the entrance of the hotel.

Besides, the position of 不要 and 要 can be exchanged. That means the sentence pattern can appear like 要……， 不要…….

For example: 我們要在酒店門口集合，不要在港鐵站集合。

                      wǒ men yɑ̀o zɑ̀i jiǔ diɑ̀n mén kǒu jí hé，bù yɑ̀o zɑ̀i gɑ̌ng tiě zhɑ̀n jí hé.

           We have to meet at the entrance of the hotel, but not the MTR station.

Moreover, you have to remember that the subject will be put at the beginning of the sentence when making Chinese sentences.
